Heaven received another angel on April 29, 2025. Demitri Ray Ortiz, 14, grew up in Shelby and was an 8th grade student at Shelby High School. He was deeply loved by his family, classmates, friends, and teachers. He brought joy to everyone with his big smile and caring personality. Demitri shared his love for history, music, video games, and the outdoors while spending time with his family and friends. He will be truly missed as he has touched many people’s hearts in his short time with us.
Demitri is survived by his loving mother, Tana Ortiz; brothers, Matthew, Mark, Jacob, and Jeremy, all of Shelby; nieces, Amelia and Aliana of Thornton, CO; grandfather, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 9, from 4 to 8 pm at Whitted Funeral Chapel Shelby.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 10, at 10:00 am at Shelby High School Auditorium.
