Mrs. Dena Gay Dennis, age 48 of Rome, Georgia passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025 in a Chattanooga hospital.
Dena was born in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia on December 4, 1976, daughter of Eddie James Hill and Susan Gay Childers Hill. She was of the Baptist Faith, was a member of the Crohn’s awareness group in Rome and had been employed as a CNA with the 5th Avenue Health and Rehabilitation Center. Dena enjoyed arts and crafts, specifically making gifts out of resin. She liked to sew, swim and cook out. Dena had a green thumb and loved raising and tending to flowers. She was an avid music lover, but her favorite activity of all of these is she loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Dena was preceded in death by a great grandmother, Nellie Key; two grandmothers, Julie Townsend and Hazel Hill; and her beloved fur baby, Jackson.
Dena is survived by a daughter, Alexa Dennis (Kirstin Gordon, Sr); son, Anthony Cole Dennis; parents, Eddie and Susan Hill; sister, Taylor Hill; grandchildren, Kirstin Gordon, II and Lorelai Dennis; special friends, April Thomas and Codi Stansell; her favorite nurse at Erlanger, Kerrin Parker; and a number of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and extended family members.
In accordance with Dena’s wishes, she will be cremated and the family will hold a Celebration of her life in the coming weeks.
