Dena (Reams) Ragsdale, 66, of Hobbs, NM passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025- surrounded by her loved ones. She fought an 8-year battle with cancer. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She was a woman of faith; always staying positive during difficult times.
Dena was born on May 20, 1959, in San Angelo, TX to Wayne and Anita Reams. She grew up in Rankin, TX, where she completed most of her schooling. Her family moved to Hobbs in her senior year where she completed high school. She wasn’t real happy having to leave her friends and meet new people her senior year.
Dena met Monty on graduation night waiting in line to receive her diploma. They had an on-and-off relationship for several years after that first meeting. They finally tied the knot on January 9, 1982, and shared 43 years together; raising a family and cherishing all the blessings in their lives.
Dena worked for Phillips 66 for 35 years, following in her dad’s footsteps who spent 38 years with Phillips 66! She started out as a roustabout at the Eunice Plant. She eventually worked her way up to become a Gas Measurement Supervisor. Dena was very proud of her career at Phillips 66.
Dena was preceded in death by her brother Robert (Robbie) Reams and her dad Wayne Reams. She was a daddy’s girl for sure. They both picked at each other with mutual respect and admiration for one another.
Dena was very proud of her two boys: Casey Lee (Mindi) and Caleb Ryan (Hali)! She loved her grandkids- Makenzi, Cason, Colton, Luke, and Kinley Grace. Dena found great joy in spending time with her family and showering them with love.
Dena is survived by her husband Monty, her children Casey and Caleb, her grandchildren, her mother Anita, her sister Ria (Mark), her sister-in-law Phyllis, and numerous nieces and nephews.
