Denis Clark Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nichols-Stephens Funeral and Cremation Service on Jan. 27, 2026.
Denis Clark, age 90, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, in Grove, Oklahoma. Born on May 10, 1935, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Denis lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to his work, passion for the outdoors, and a magnetic personality that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Denis graduated from Fairpark High School in Shreveport, where he first demonstrated his athletic talents. His love for football led him to McNeese State University, where he played for the college team before answering the call to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps. His time in the Marines instilled in him a deep sense of discipline and pride that remained with him throughout his life.

Following his military service, Denis embarked on a diverse and successful career. He worked as a salesman in the oil and gas industry-a field that suited his outgoing nature and strong communication skills. Never one to be confined by a single path, Denis also pursued entrepreneurial ventures including involvement with a hunting and fishing video company and various other side businesses. His professional life reflected both his industrious spirit and his love for the outdoors.

Denis was an avid outdoorsman whose passions included hunting and fishing-activities that brought him joy and connected him deeply with nature. He was equally at home in the kitchen or behind a grill, known for his cooking skills and love of entertaining guests. Whether hosting friends or tending to his meticulously manicured lawn and garden, Denis approached everything he did with enthusiasm and care.

Those who knew Denis remember him as loving, charismatic, and outgoing-a man who could light up any room with his presence. His warmth drew people in, while his stories and laughter made them stay. He cultivated not only plants but also friendships that endured across decades.

Denis is preceded in death by his parents, Christopher and Sudette (Brosette) Clark daughter, Helen Clark, brother, Charles Floyd, sisters: Janet Erdmann and Judy Byrd.

Left to cherish his memory: daughters, Christa Fellers (Randy) of Dallas, TX and Teesha Clark of Grove; grandchildren: Angelica Latham, Alexandra Latham and William Latham, Victoria Latham and Katie Kolczun; brother, Ray Floyd (Wilda) of Downsville, LA,

Denis was also preceded in death by the love of his life, Betty Smith and her sons, Terry and Tommy Helderman. Survived by her family that loved him very much, Betty's daughter, Vickie Cheatwood (Denis Talley), Betty's son: Mike Helderman (Shirley Howard) and Betty's many grandchildren and great grandchildren:

A Celebration of Denis' life will be at 3pm Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at New Beginnings Church 1200 SW 44th St., Oklahoma City, OK.
