Alberta Scribner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nichols-Stephens Funeral and Cremation Service on Feb. 2, 2026.
Alberta Christine "Bert" Scribner, aged 84, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, in Grove, Oklahoma. Born on May 6, 1941, in Labette County, near Altamont, Kansas, Bert was known for her engaging personality, joyful spirit, and sweet nature.

Bert graduated from Altamont, Kansas High School in 1958. She pursued a college education before embarking on a long and dedicated career as a secretary at Occidental Oil Company.

Bert met Ralph Scribner at a square dance, and they were married on June 23, 1986, and their lives together were filled with love and companionship. They shared many adventures while traveling across the United States, exploring diverse landscapes, and making memories together.

Bert particularly enjoyed traveling, snow skiing, playing Bunko, and country dancing. She was a fantastic and generous supporter of all of the activities in which her grandkids and great grandkids participated.

She loved rooting for the OKC Thunder basketball team and all of the OSU Cowboys sports. She adored her family and loved spending as much time as possible with them.

When she retired, she moved to the serene surroundings of Grand Lake, where she cherished her time surrounded by the beauty of the natural world.

Bert's passing is deeply felt by her family and friends and all the people who met and knew her. The kindness, warmth, and joy she always lent to every occasion will be profoundly missed.

Bert was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mary Lucille Testerman, her sister and brother-in-law, Alverna and Darwin Testerman, and nephew, Kelly Testerman.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 39 years, Ralph Scribner; daughters, Sandy Burford (Clayton) and Cindy Rohling (Rob), all of Locust Grove, Ok; grandchildren, Audrey Burford, Bailey Burford (Taylor Wallace), Wesley Burford, Britni Rohling, Zachaery Taylor (Allison Lang), Katelynn Taylor and Taylor Lawlis (Cory); great grandchildren, Ayanna and Evelyn Wallace, Henley Taylor, Kash and Rylan Lawlis; siblings Linda Testerman Carr (Jerry) and Harold Dewayne Testerman. From her first marriage, she also has two daughters who truly loved everything about her and treasured the times they shared together with only happy memories.

A celebration of Bert's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Nichols-Stephens Funeral Chapel, Grove, followed by lunch.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Good Shepherd Hospice and Grove Nursing Center for making Bert's passing and this celebration easier for them.
