Denise Happ Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Grondin Funeral Home - Rochester on Mar. 3, 2026.
Denise A. Happ, 71, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, in Danvers, MA. She was born on September 19, 1954, in Rochester, NH, and lived a life defined by strength, dedication, and love for her family.

After graduating from Nute High School, Denise began her career at Davidson Rubber. She later answered a higher call to serve her country, enlisting in the Women's Army Corps. From 1975 to 1978, she served proudly and honorably, with opportunities that took her from Hawaii to Colorado, Alabama, and Georgia. The discipline, resilience, and pride she cultivated during her military service remained with her throughout her life.

Following her time in the Army, Denise returned to Davidson Rubber before embarking on what would become a long and meaningful career as a devoted civil servant at the National Passport Center. She took immense pride in her work, carefully reviewing each application with integrity and diligence. Through her unwavering commitment and strong work ethic, she rose to the role of Supervisor, where she mentored and supported colleagues as they built their own careers. Over the years, she received numerous accolades, including the distinguished honor of Employee of the Year, a testament to her professionalism and dedication. After many years of faithful service, she retired, leaving behind a legacy of excellence.

Denise believed that life held small bits of magic for those willing to see them. She valued simple joys and found happiness in everyday moments. She adored her faithful dog, Simba, her constant and devoted companion. Together they enjoyed walks and hikes, where Denise found peace and joy in the beauty of the outdoors. She also cherished time spent gardening and picking fruit with her family, creating treasured memories filled with laughter and love. In her later years, even as her health declined, Denise embraced life's adventures in new ways, delighting in trips to the casino and celebrating her remarkable luck.

Denise was predeceased by her beloved son, Jason John Happ, and her mother, June Canney.

She leaves behind her loving daughter, Jessica Happ (and her husband, Bobby Thompson, Jr.); her sister, Marion McIntire (and her husband, Stephen); her brother, Jerry Perron; her nieces, Joy Coleman and Megan O'Connor (and her husband, Travis); and her cherished great-nieces and great-nephew, Elizabeth, Nicholas, and Savannah. She will be remembered for her strength, her loyalty, her determination, and, above all, the love she held for her family.

Grondin Funeral Home has been entrusted with her care. At this time, no services will be held. Her family will lay Denise to rest in a private burial alongside her mother at Holy Rosary Cemetery this spring.

We are sorry to hear of Denise“s passing. She was a great lady. We worked with her a Davidson Rubber and I worked with her at the Passport Center. She and I would often talk about June and laugh at some of the things we remembered about Davidson Rubber. May God Bless your family at this time. Denise, "May you soar like an Eagle , fly like a Dove as you watch over the ones that you love."
