Born May 14, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan to Ernest and Alkisty Efstratis.
Loving mother, sister and wife, Denise died January 27, 2022, after a prolonged illness, surrounded by family.
She is survived by her husband Nick G. Nicholas, children Christina Nicholas (Steve Miller) and Dean (Kristen) Nicholas, sister Alexis (Gary) Tamanini, brother Byron Efstratis, and several nieces and nephews.
Denise grew up in Bloomfield, Michigan, graduating from Andover High School where she performed as a majorette. She loved children and spent her career working in daycare and early education and spent many years teaching Sunday School at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. She lived most of her life in Oxford, Michigan where she loved raising her children, time at the beach, and (later in life) relaxing with her dog Max. She also loved traveling and spending time with cherished family and friends.
Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks, Clawson, Sunday, January 30, 2-5pm, with prayers at 3pm. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 760 W. Wattles, Troy, Monday, January 31, at 2pm.
Given the current environment and especially out of respect for immunocompromised individuals, as Denise was, the family requests that all guests at the visitation and/or funeral please wear a mask.
Memorials appreciated to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
May her memory be eternal.
