Oxford-Denise Ann Schindler was born December 15, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The daughter of Ronald and Nancy (Teggatz) Van Dee. She graduated from Williamsburg High School. Denise was united in marriage to Gene Schindler on October 18, 1986, in Williamsburg.
Denise had worked for the Holiday Inn and Colony Village at Little Amana and later at Amana Refrigeration for 37 years. She enjoyed shopping, tanning, doing stained glass and spending time with her family, especially her grandson. Denise died Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City at the age of 60 years.
She is survived by her husband Gene; children, Shayna Schindler and Skyler (Amanda Brogan) Schindler all of Oxford; a grandson, Jackson; her mother, Nancy Van Dee of Oxford. She was preceded in death by her father Ronald.
Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. Burial will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A memorial fund has been established for Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. Messages and tributes may be directed to www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
