Dennis “Denny” Mathew Anderson, 78, of Maryville, Missouri, passed away on September 15, 2025, at Mosaic Hospital in Saint Joseph, Missouri, due to complications from pneumonia.
Born on September 5, 1947, in Hiteman, Iowa. Denny was raised in Melcher Dallas, Iowa, in a close-knit family and later graduated from Northwest Missouri State University — a school he remained deeply loyal to throughout his life as a proud and lifelong Bearcat.
Denny spent the majority of his career as a traveling salesman for the Maryville Typewriter Exchange, where his charisma and humor served him well on the road and with clients. He brought laughter everywhere he went, always ready with a joke or a quick one-liner.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rita; his children, Patrick (Brooke) and Tim (Kristen); step-children, Steve (Kathy) VanGundy and Lisa (Andy) Ruffini; his cherished grandchildren: Gunnar (Desi) Anderson, Rider and Sophia Anderson, Katie (James) Cullingford, Sara (Ty) Cunningham, Anthony (Crystal) Mundo, Layla and Lacroix Brodt; great-grandchildren, Miles and Avery Cullingford. He was preceded in death by his son Jeff Anderson; his parents Glenn and Anne; and siblings Dick, Donald, and Patti. He is also survived by his brother Robert.
Denny had a love for life that was contagious. He adored traveling — especially to Mexico — and had a deep, unwavering loyalty to all things Bearcat sports. Friday nights were sacred, spent with his “old man’s group” at the pub, where stories and laughter flowed freely. A lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan, Denny also had a deep appreciation for 1950s rock ‘n’ roll music, often heard humming or spinning a record from his favorite era.
He remained close with many lifelong friends from his hometown of Melcher Dallas, keeping in touch over the years with the same warmth and humor that defined him.
Denny also had a special place in his heart for his many nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly and were always on the receiving end of his kindness and playful spirit.
A celebration of Denny’s life will be held at the Bram Funeral Home on Monday September 22, 2025. There will be a visitation at 10:00 am followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am. Denny was cremated under the care of the Bram Funeral Home.
