Dennis Lee Brown (1949-2026)

Dennis Lee Brown, 77, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, died in Evansville, Indiana on February 16th, 2026 at 2252 hours.

He was born in Salem, Illinois on January 14th, 1949 to Vera Floyd and Cecil Lee Brown. Dennis enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17 and served during the Vietnam War. Following, he was an over the road truck driver for over 50 years, traveling everywhere - including Alaska and Hawaii. Dennis' favorite quote being, "My momma told me that I could be anything that I wanted, so I chose to be an asshole. My grandma always told me that practice makes perfect, and let me tell you - I practiced."

Dennis is preceded in death by: Vera Floyd, Cecil Lee Brown, David Brown, Angelia Brown, and Charlie Lee. Dennis is survived by: April Dawn Mosier, Joseph Andrew Brown, Tanya Marie Soto-Renteria, Bobby James Brown, Christopher Thomas Mosier, Teresa Marie Vernon, Tiffany Leanne Mosier, Johnathan Allen Michael Brown, Ashley Marie Dawn Green-Martin, Jemmia Lynette Eileen Green, Alisha Bonnie Ruth Green, Jetta Holl Leanne Green, Colton Brown, Micah Andrew Brown, and Nathan Brown, Bobby Justin Nesbitt, Dallas Lee Nesbitt, Dennis Christopher Nesbitt, Celeste Valentina Soto, Jose Antonio Soto, and fourteen Great Grand Children.

The service will be held at Kirk Cemetery on Friday, February 20th, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Trevor officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by Mt. Vernon American Legion Post #141 Donations or gifts sent to Johnston Funeral Home in Ina, Illinois would be greatly appreciated.
