Dennis Dale Davis was born May 22, 1948 in Sandusky, Michigan. He was the only child born to Gordon “Dick” and Marie “Mary” (Kuk) Davis. Dennis grew up in Sandusky where he enjoyed family, friends, 4H, music, cars and school sports, excelling at football. He graduated from Sandusky High School in 1966. He attended Ferris State University where he played football for one season. School wasn’t for Dennis at that time, so he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After basic training he was stationed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas. While he was stationed in Wichita he met his future wife, Dani Lundy. They were united in marriage on November 6, 1970.
Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Dennis completed nursing school as a L.P.N. He then went on to Dartmouth College in New Hampshire and graduated with a Physician Assistant degree. After graduation he and Dani moved to Marshalltown, Iowa in February 1974 where Dennis began working with Dr. Lund. Dennis was proud to be one of the first PAs in the state of Iowa, which was a new medical profession at that time. For most of his career he worked at Marshalltown Family Medical Services with Dr. Lund and Dr. Reinertson until a medical condition forced early retirement in 1992.
Outside of work and his family, Dennis remained active. He took part in the American Legion first belonging to the Rhodes Post then joining Marshalltown Post 46. Additionally, he was a Za Ga Zig Shriner and a Mason. His favorite activities involved being outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved taking trips all over the country or going to the casinos with Dani as often as they could.
Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his son, Jay (Leanne) Davis; his two grandchildren, Sydney (Jorden) Studer and Brandon Davis; and his great-grandson, Jaxson Studer.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dani in 2022, his parents and many aunts and uncles.
