Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at his home, at the age 82 years.
The son of Leola M. (Little) and the late William E. Schultz, Jim was born on October 19, 1943, in Wheeler, Michigan. He graduated from Merrill High School with the class of 1961. Jim continued his education at Ferris State University. He married the love of his life, Diane L. Foerster, on September 11, 1965, at Redeemer Lutheran Church. They shared 60 wonderful years together. She survives him. Jim worked as a Tool Engineer and Manager at Eaton Manufacturing, retiring after 30 years of loyal and dedicated service. Jim would engineer and build his own cars from scratch. He enjoyed going to various car shows, especially with his wife and very dear friends. Jim loved watching NASCAR and NHRA Racing. He found solace in walking, even participating in several 5K walks, winning multiple medals. Jim had a strong interest in civil war history and was a proud University of Michigan fan. Above all, Jim cherished the time spent with his family and loved ones, especially his various friend groups. You know who you are.
Surviving besides his wife, Diane Schultz; are their daughter and son, Suzanne Schultz, Steve (Spring) Schultz; granddaughter, Season (Matthew) DiCosola; God sons who were cherished as bonus grandchildren, Chandler and Chase; sister, Janice (Don) Wazny; nieces, Missy Martin, Amy Wazny- Nolan (Sara), Deniece Wazny (Charlie); nephew, Brian (Amy) Martin; great-nieces, Britnee (Chris) Easlick, Shelby Foerster, Phelicia Wazny (Bruno); great-nephew, Logan Wazny; great-great-nephews and niece, Sullivan and Everett Martin, Jaxten, Coen, and Zenlee Easlick; and his beloved cats, Jackson, Smokie, Zack, Patches, and Lily.
