Dennis Dale Gagner, age 67, of Swartz Creek, died Sunday, June 29, 2025. A funeral service will take place 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday.
Dennis was born on December 9, 1957 in Flint, Michigan the son of the late Gerald and Leota (Keely) Gagner. He graduated from Carman Ainsworth High School, class of 1977. Following his education, Dennis began his 30-year career with GM working in several capacities on the assembly line in multiple states until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of UAW Local 1292 and member and past district commander of Sons of American Legion. Dennis loved his family, friends and community. He was always supporting his son's activities and passions. Dennis was a Boy Scout Master for Chris' Troop 352 in Chapel Hill, TN and volunteered his time with the Special Olympics for Dennis II. He liked to hunt, play softball and was an avid University of Michigan and University of Alabama fan.
Dennis was deeply admired by everyone who knew him and he will leave a everlasting impact. His strength, grace, and kindness never went unnoticed. Dennis will be deeply missed by all.
He is survived by his son, Chris (Natalia) Gagner; granddaughter, Sophia Gagner; stepson, Samuel (Monica) Smarszcz; three siblings, Richard Gagner, Dona Aldridge and Deborah (Keith) Garrison; and several nieces, nephews and special friends.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his son, Dennis D. Gagner II; brother, Donald Thomas Gagner; sister-in-law, Dianne Gagner; and brother-in-law, Curtis Aldridge Jr.. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
