Dennis Genaust

Dennis Genaust, 66, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, IL, after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Effingham. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Dennis was born on November 9, 1957 in Effingham, IL, the son of Billy and Florence (Flack) Genaust. He married Jacqueline Groves on April 15, 1978.
Dennis worked at World Color for 30 years and as a paramedic part-time. He also enjoyed helping around the farm. He loved being outside and would often go fishing and hunting. Dennis was a Godly man with a giving and selfless spirit. He was a devoted husband and a loving father and grandfather.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Genaust of Effingham; children, Thad (Kim Thomas) Genaust of Alma, IL, and Amanda Genaust of Effingham; grandchildren, MaKenna Roley, Tatum Genaust, Jaxxon Green, and Bentley Genaust; and parents, Billy and Florence Genaust.
He was preceded in death by a brother in infancy, Bruce Genaust; and his grandparents, William and Neva Genaust and Edward and Mary Flack.
