Dennis was born on January 22, 1959, to the late Ellis Davis Graven and Evelyn Joyce Graven. He spent his formative years in Bowling Green, Kentucky where he graduated from Bowling Green High School.
He attended several universities, ultimately graduating from the University of Kentucky. While in Lexington, he started his career as a civil engineer and played rugby for the Blackstones Rugby Football Club.
In 1986, he moved to Florida where he lived for the rest of his life. Although he lived in Florida for many years, he always thought of Kentucky as his home.
When not working, he enjoyed golf, fishing, his basset hounds, collecting bourbon, cooking and following the Kentucky Wildcats.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 37 years, Becky, two aunts, Sammye Graven and Ettie Lee Graven, cousins, Bob Sandra) Graven, Butch (Anita) Graven and Jim (Jessica) Graven along with many other cousins.
He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Bill Steinweg, sisters-in-law, Sandy Thompson and Jane (Norman) Doss, nephews, Jason Thompson and Dave (Ally) Steinweg and niece, Kristin (Kevin) Lococo.
Dennis especially enjoyed watching his great nephews, Nick Lococo and Matt Lococo play football and following his great niece, Eva Thompson, and her dancing endeavors.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30PM on Tuesday, May 20 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road. Burial will follow at The Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:30PM till the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
