Dennis Raymond Hammerstrom

Dennis Raymond "Denny" Hammerstrom, aged 71, passed away peacefully at his home in Villisca, Iowa, on February 22, 2025. Born on November 2, 1953, in Omaha, Nebraska, Denny was a man known for his handy skills that served him well both professionally and personally.
Denny was the beloved son of Arthur Hammerstrom and Betty Jane Johnson Hammerstrom. He was a loving father to his son, James Hammerstrom, who reflects Denny's spirit of kindness and determination. The bond they shared was not only of father and son but also of best friends who stood by each other through every season of life. After completing his education with a GED, Denny's adventurous spirit led him to live a life full of diverse experiences and endeavors. He spent his early years in Omaha, where he developed a reputation for his exceptional work in constructing in-ground swimming pools. In 1986, Denny made the move to Villisca, Iowa, a place he would call home for the rest of his life.
In 2008, Denny embarked on a new venture and founded his own masonry business. His craftsmanship and attention to detail in his work were a testament to his character-a man who built not just with bricks and mortar but with integrity and passion. Denny's business not only beautified the community but also built a legacy of hard work and resilience.
Denny's interests outside of work were as vibrant and robust as his personality. He was an avid Harley rider, feeling most at ease with the wind in his hair and the open road ahead. Fishing and camping were also among his favorite pastimes, allowing him to immerse himself in the tranquility of nature-a stark contrast to his bustling work life. These moments of solitude amidst the wilderness provided balance to his industrious nature. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mardelle Hammerstrom.
Left to cherish his memory is his son James Hammerstrom; sisters Cindy (Frank) Rorabaugh and Tami Hammerstrom along with many other family and close friends. Denny's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his memory will continue to inspire and comfort. He lived his life with authenticity and left behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories. Denny Hammerstrom will be profoundly missed, but his influence will undoubtedly live on in the community he loved and the family he adored.
