Dennis “Denny” D. Hammitt, 58, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at his home.
Denny was born on January 21, 1967, in Geneseo, IL, the son of Dennis W. and Dorothy L. (VanWinkle) Hammitt. He was raised and educated in rural Monmouth and attended Warren High School.
Denny worked at Americold in Monmouth. He enjoyed playing darts and watching TV, especially football and wrestling. Denny loved to listen to music, particularly 80’s rock.
Survivors include his children, Christian Hammitt and Kassie Hammitt, both of Monmouth; his grandchildren, Leticia Hammitt, Rashawn Jones, Micah Jones, and Kyro Jones; his sister, Donna Hammitt of Galesburg, IL; his brothers, David Hammitt of Kirkwood, IL and Derick Hammitt of Monmouth. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Gathering of Family & Friends will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2025, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Cremation will be accorded after the gathering. Memorials may be given to the Dennis D. Hammitt Memorial Fund and can be sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
