Dennis Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DeBaun Funeral Homes & Crematory - Springhill Chapel on Jan. 12, 2026.
Dennis Wayne Johnson entered into the arms of Jesus on January 11, 2026.

Dennis was born November 5, 1952 to Hubert Laverne and Lucy (Hook) Johnson. He met the love of his life Cyndy in World History class at Honey Creek High School. They married on May 7, 1971. Together they have two sons, Matt and Sam.

Dennis loved Cyndy BIG! For the past 54 years you rarely saw one without the other. He loved his family. Whether it was going to ball games, hunting or fishing he enjoyed the time with his boys and grandchildren.

Dennis served in the Indiana Air Guard for 13 years and was a machinist by trade. He drove a bus for the city of Terre Haute for 20 years before his retirement in 2020. Dennis has been a faithful member of Union Christian Church and is a member of El Shaddai Emmaus Community. Dennis was also a member of The American Legion Post #328.

Dennis is survived by his soulmate, Cyndy, sons Matt (Nathalie), Sam (Heather), grandchildren Camden, Sierra, Corbin, Jade, Kailer and Wyatt Johnson and great-granddaughter Rowan Johnson, and several other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Donna Long, Diana Hlatko and Connie Dickerson.

The family would like to thank Dennis's healthcare team: Dr. Mendoza, Dr. Buthani and Dr. Jabbour as well as The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care caregivers.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Union Christian Church located at 5350 E Hulman Dr, Terre Haute, IN 47803. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 9:30 am at the church with burial to follow at Durham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care or Union Christian Church.
