Dennis Keating Obituary
Dennis Michael "Doc" Keating, age 88, of Shorewood, passed away suddenly, Sunday, December 17, 2023, at home.
Born July 10, 1935 in Morris, IL, he was the son of the late Arthur T. and Elsa (Peterson) Keating. He was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School and Joliet Junior College. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and worked many years for Reynolds Aluminum as a sheet metal inspector. "Doc" was a faithful member of the Church of St. Jude, and enjoyed bowling.
"Doc" will be sadly missed by his sons and family, but he will live on through them forever, and the example of honesty and integrity by which he lived his life will continue to guide them.
Survived by his two sons, David Andrew Keating of Libertyville and Michael Dennis (Virginia) Keating of Shorewood; nine grandchildren, Raquel Frances (Addy) Keating, Meghan Marie Keating, Jack Ryan Keating, Sean Michael Keating, Kaitlyn Claire Keating, Jason Michael Rivera, Breanna Louise (Tyler) Cap, Jennifer Marie Keating, Michael David Keating; great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Theodore and Charles Cap; two brothers, Phillip (Harriet) Keating and Stephen (Mary Kate) Keating; one sister, Peggy (William) Stonich; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Mr. Kelly.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty Rae" (Wicevic) Keating (August 29, 2012); an infant grandson, Andrew Keating; his parents; his step-mother, Edna Keating; brothers, Thomas and Joseph; and sisters, Kathleen Elms and Mary Beth Barnett.
Visitation for Dennis Keating will be held Tuesday, December 26, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 9:00 a.m., from the funeral home to the Church of St. Jude for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where military honors will be accorded under the auspices of the United States Army and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad.
