Dennis Knutt

Dennis P. Knutt, age 68, of Panama, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

He was born on August 29, 1956, to the late Richard "Don" and Dortha R. (Daniels) Knutt. On September 26, 2020, Dennis married the love of his life, Dawn LeMay, and she survives in Panama.

Dennis was proud to be a hardworking member of the East St. Louis Union Local 100, where he was known as a dedicated laborer. Outside of work, he had a gift for building and woodworking, often keeping his hands busy with projects that reflected his creativity and skill. He found peace in the outdoors, especially when fishing. He was known as a simple man who found joy in the little things.

In addition to his wife, Dawn, he is survived by his children, Dennis Knutt Jr.; Tonia Chapman and husband Jeremy; Brian LeMay and wife Haley, and Jennifer Petcher and husband Sam; his grandchildren, Jackson Knutt, Ryan Durbin, Taylor Durbin, Trey Mohler, Joslyn Mohler, Lily LeMay, Layden LeMay, Stefan LeMay, Emberlynn Johnson, Avree Rasler, Renesmay Petcher, Rozalynn Petcher, and Raelee Petcher; and his great granddaughter, Adalynn Leigh Durbin. He is also survived by his siblings, Donald Knutt, Darrell Knutt, Darlene Greenway, Diana Gray, and Denise Knutt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Debra Knutt; and his brothers, David Knutt and Dale Knutt.

A memorial service for Mr. Knutt will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Zieren Funeral Home, 1111 Clinton Street, Carlyle, IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Dennis are suggested to the family's wishes and checks can be made payable to Dawn Knutt. Donations will also be received through Zieren Funeral Home.
