Dennis passed away Tuesday, March 4,, 2025 at Billings Clinic Hospital, Billings MT from complications due to Parkinson's disease and Acute Leukemia.

Dennis was born on December 9, 1944 at Beach, ND and was raised on the family farm near Sentinel Butte. He was the second youngest of ten children born to Peter A. Lardy and Elizabeth (Dietz) Lardy. He entered first grade at Valley View, a one-room country school, where his mother was the teacher. In 5th grade, his family moved in to Sentinel Butte where he graduated Salutatorian from Sentinel Butte High School in 1962. Dennis began college at Dickinson State College in Dickinson, ND, but after two quarters of school, he opted to enlist in the US Navy in 1963. After basic training in San Diego and technical school in Bainbridge, Maryland, Dennis served aboard the SS Borie out of Norfolk, Virginia. He toured the Mediterranean Sea and the Middle East in 1964, and the North Atlantic in 1966.

After his enlistment in the Navy, he returned to Dickinson State College and graduated in 1970 with a BS in Accounting and Mathematics. He went on to the University of North Dakota and received his Master's degree in Accounting and Business Law.

On December 30, 1970, Dennis was married to Carolyn Hagen at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in New Town, ND. During the school year of 1971 and 1972, Dennis taught accounting at Platte Jr. College at Columbus, Nebraska and also became a CPA. After only one year of teaching he moved back to Dickinson where he was employed as a staff accountant with Harvey Babcock and later for Eide Helmeke CPA's. In 1979 he took a position as Administrative Assistant at Fisher Sand and Gravel Company. In October of 1986 he started his own CPA firm, and later joined with Gene Brose to become Brose Lardy & Sticka CPA's.

Dennis and Carolyn had three children: Peter, Sonja and Justin. Dennis enjoyed attending all their activities and particularly liked to take them camping, boating, skiing and fishing. Later he enjoyed watching his four grandchildren and all the frenzied excitement they brought with them.

Over the years he was active with the Dickinson Dolphin Swim Team, the Cub Scouts, and Friends of the Pool/West River Community Center. Organizations he belonged to include the Elks, Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, North Dakota Society of CPA's, and the American Institute of CPA's. He was a faithful member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

He was an avid runner and loved his early morning jogs around Dickinson. He enjoyed photography and had his own darkroom in his basement. Woodworking was another of his passions and he created many pieces of furniture for his family, but most of all, he loved golfing; early mornings were always the best. Often he worked on his driving at the Trinity football field across the street from his home until it was frowned upon.

Dennis lived with Parkinson's disease for twenty years. He retired early in 2009 due to his illness. He and Carolyn enjoyed traveling and managed to take quite a few cruises before it became impossible for him to travel. He resided in St. Benedict's for the last five months.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his three children: Peter (Crystal) Lardy, Poncha Springs, CO, Sonja (Gene) Dutchuk, Beulah, ND and Justin (Jamey) Lardy of Dickinson; and four grandsons, Everette and Parker Dutchuk, Thomas and Jameson Lardy; siblings, Matt (Deanna) Lardy, Richland, WA, Lawrence Lardy, Syracuse, NY, Maurice Lardy, Bismarck ND, Sr. Susan Lardy, Annunciation Priory, Bismarck, ND, Teresa Davis, San Bernardino, CA, Bill (Dixie) Lardy, Bismarck, ND and Helena (Terry) Gregoire, Mesa, AZ, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Peter A.R. Lardy, Leonard Lardy; sisters-in-law, Sharon Lardy, Marge Lardy, Edith Lardy; niece, Renae Lardy; nephew, Ron Lardy; and great nephew Ryan Lardy.
