Dennis A. Lawrence Sr., 67, of Indianapolis passed away on August 17, 2022 at Community Hospital South. Dennis was born on March 4, 1955 in Indianapolis to Thomas and Betty (Dennis) Lawrence. He was a graduate of Arsenal Tech High School. Dennis was employed in the printing industry as a feeder operator/second pressman, before he started to work as a custodian for Kindred Hospital South. Finally, he worked as a custodian for Perry Township Schools at Rosa Parks Elementary School. This job brought him the most joy.
Dennis had the heart of a servant and would do anything to help people. He often made things for friends and neighbors out of wood, fixed everything, loved to make jewelry, and read about military history, especially the Vietnam and Civil Wars. Dennis was a sports fan for the Pacers, Colts, IU Basketball, and Notre Dame. He also loved to be outside, do yard work, fish, and visit Turkey Run and Shades State Parks with his children and grandchildren. Above all, the family want people to know that Dennis had a keen sense of humor and loved his family.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Nancy Ann (Fellers) Lawrence; son, Dennis Allen (Denny) (Kathy) Lawrence Jr.; daughter, Christina Marie (C'h'rissy) Lawrence; brothers: David (Karen) Lawrence, Thomas Lawrence, Lewis (Karen) Lawrence, John (Kathie Jo) Lawrence; grandchildren: Devin Ritter, Brooklyn Ritter, Ella Lawrence, Jeremiah Lawrence and Londyn Lawrence; great grandchild: Montea' Lawrence. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and grandchild, Michael Allen Ritter.
Funeral services for Dennis will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Singleton-St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, 7602 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis.
