Dennis Glen Lund, age 87, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Dennis was born on September 9, 1937, to William and Clara (VanSickle) Lund in Alexandria. He graduated from Brandon High School in 1955. Dennis grew up attending the Calvary Covenant Church in Evansville.
Dennis was united in marriage to Colleen Rossum in 1958, and they lived on the family farm north of Brandon. They had six children and also fostered children for many years. He was a dairy farmer and worked for Strom Construction as a heavy equipment operator. After retiring from the dairy farm, Dennis developed an interest in the motel industry and eventually owned a couple himself. He loved visiting with the employees and guests.
Dennis enjoyed auctions, gardening, restoring tractors and campers, and spending time with his family. He was a kind, gracious, and humble man who always had a smile on his face and a story to tell.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Colleen; children, Barb (Paul) Lundeen, Brad (Kelly) Lund, Greg (Jill) Lund, Monte (Nancy) Lund, Maralee (Steve) Moen, and Jared (Tamara) Lund; brother, Reece (Mary) Lund; grandchildren, Kelly (Mark) Glennon, Gina (Adam) Pederson, Rachel (Ha) Nguyen, Jennifer Foss, Josh Foss, Alicia (Derek) Meissner, Brittany (Chris) Meissner, Tiffany (Joel) Hokanson, Travis (Kendra) Lund, Aaron (Cheryl) Lund, Cody (Whitney) Lund, Jordan Lund, Elliot (Grace) Lund, Josiah (Brooke) Lund, Timothy Lund, Jared (Rachel) Lund, Peter (Bella) Lund, Amber (Brady Mork) Lund, Leah (Brent) Kahout, Lindsay Lund, Blake (Amanda) Holte, Jamie (Matt) DeBoer, Ryan Moen, Grant Moen, Preston (Abbey) Lund, Ashley (Leslie) Ness, and Anthony (Jennie) Lund; 59 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; godchildren, Diane Koep, Kristi Froemming, Tyler Rossum, and Jon Rossum; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eldred (Marlene) Lund; sister, Rosemary (David) Klukken; grandson, Rocky Lund; and parents-in-law, Charles and Hulda Rossum.
To honor Dennis’ life, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Pastor Greg Lund and Jared Lund will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Teen Challenge in Alexandria or a charity of choice.
