Dennis James McCabe

Dennis James McCabe passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at the age of 81.

Dennis was born on July 6, 1944 in Highland Park, Michigan to Allen L. and Virginia P. (Young) McCabe. After high school, he attended college and then followed his professional path as an electrician. He worked for GM for many years before retiring around 2010. On June 5, 1993, he married Dianna at Grace Episcopal Church in Mount Clemens. They have shared 32 wonderful years of adventure and making memories together. Dennis enjoyed running, taking in the outdoors all while keeping himself fit and healthy. Watching football was always something you could find him doing. Dennis loved horse racing. He and Dianna made a trip to the Kentucky Derby for the big race and it was one of the highlights of his life. His biggest and proudest accomplishment is his family, especially his grandchildren. Dennis loved spending time with his family and never missed an opportunity to do just that. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him and loved him.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Dianna; children, David McCabe and Shelly Macka; step-children, Angele (Tracy) Groth and Kenneth (Lisa) Gallmore II; grandchildren, Aimee, Dianna, Tyler, Zachery, Jack, McKenzie, Kyle, Ashley, Garry and Josh; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Nathen, Brennon, Joey, Avery, Cameron, Theresa, Freya, Matilda, Madison, Lorelei, Margo, Oliver and Arthur; and many extended family and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his siblings, Al and Virginia and his parents.

Visitation for Dennis will take place on Friday, January 30, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. .to 11:00 a.m. at Hauss-Modetz Funeral Home, 47477 Romeo Plank, Macomb. The funeral will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026 at the funeral home. A private entombment will be held at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Oakland Township.
