Dennis McCloud passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family, on July 30, 2025.
Born in South Amboy, New Jersey, Dennis lived a full life filled with hard work, laughter, and love. He was predeceased by his parents, Helen and John, his brother John, his sister Helen, and his beloved son Michael. He is survived by his wife Joan, son Christopher and wife Ali of Narberth, Pennsylvania, daughter Lisa and husband Christian of Ashburn, Virginia, and daughter Jillian and her husband Nick of Jackson, New Jersey. He also leaves behind his grandchildren-Kyle, Zachary, Anthony, Dominic, Finnly, Chayse, Tobin, and one great grandchild, Bodie-who brought him endless joy.
Dennis loved spending time with his grandkids, especially fishing, going to Blue Claws baseball games, and taking trips to the boardwalk for rides and treats. He was a proud coach, helping his son in little league and his daughters in rec softball. For years, he kept his love of the game alive by playing adult co-ed slow pitch softball.
One of Dennis's favorite things was decorating his yard for the holidays. He got so much joy from collecting inflatable decorations and filling his lawn with them each year-it became a tradition the whole neighborhood looked forward to. He also loved going to parades, especially St. Patrick's Day parades, where he could enjoy the music, energy, and celebration. Christmastime held a special place in his heart, and he never missed a chance to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra perform during the holiday season.
Earlier in life, Dennis worked as a respiratory therapist, then became a proud ironworker with the Iron Workers Local 373. He loved pointing out the buildings and bridges he helped build throughout Central and Northern Jersey. Even as his memory faded in his later years, he could still recognize those places with pride.
As a teenager and young adult, Dennis also gave back to his community by volunteering with the South Amboy First Aid Squad, following in the footsteps of his father, who served as a longtime member and leader.
He will be remembered for his big heart, his love for his family, and the joy he found in life's little things-from ball games and Christmas lights to parades ant the structures he helped build.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday August 12, at St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Rd, Freehold Township, NJ 07728.
Services are entrusted to Jersey Shore Cremation, 43 Taylor Avenue, Manasquan, NJ.
