Dennis Waldron McQuaig

Dennis Waldron McQuaig (Swamp Rat), 67, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2024, at his home with his loving wife of 48 years. He was born on December 3, 1957, to the late Walter McQuaig and Betty West of Ocala, Florida. He made Western, NC his home around 36 years ago.

 

In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his sister, Debora O’brien; brothers Donald, Dale “Todd”, and Dough; mother-in-law Earmie Japart; sister-in-law, Minnie Huerta, nephews Willis Crews and many more.

 

Dennis is survived by his wife Ivey Sue McQuaig; brother, Darrell McQuaig; son, Dennis “Denny” McQuaig Jr. (Michelle); daughters, Penny Patino, Regina Bowers; sister-in-law Nancy Zapata; grandchildren, Shawn McQuaig, Edgar McQuaig, Everett and Carlee Bowers; several great grandchildren, one special one that is on her way that he named Ivey Lee before his passing. Special people Caitlyn Stringer and Tamara Swayngim. 

 

We would like to personally thank Haywood Hospice Care for all their love and care during this time.

 

He was an avid watcher of Swamp People working with horses, riding his motorcycle and going fishing gave him great joy. His friends and family will remember him as a jokester.
