Dennis George Mummert

Dennis George Mummert, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on the morning of August 27, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer.

He was the son of the late Earl L. and Charlotte M (Knaub) Mummert. He graduated from Susquehannock High School in 1969 and server in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was introduced to his future wife, Diane J. (Mann) Mummert by his sister, Doreen Hayes. They were married on November 25, 1972, and spent 53 wonderful years together.

Dennis had a lifelong passion for farming and also enjoyed being a truck driver, until retiring to a small farm in Virginia. In his later years, he was an active member of the local AARP group and the Church of the Incarnation. Dennis enjoyed collecting toy tractors, farming memorabilia, and spending time with his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; daughter Barbyanne (Mummert) Devor, her husband Travis, and their two children Emmerson and Barrett of York, PA; daughter Angela M. (Mummert) Gillen, her husband Chris, and their two children Katelynn and Denver of Virginia Beach, VA; son Stewart E. Mummert, his wife Michaela (Trudell), and their two children Logan and Rhett of Warrenton, VA; sister Doreen Hayes of York, PA; and brother David H. Mummert.

Dennis was a loving husband, devoted father, a loyal friend, proud veteran, with a quiet spirituality, who loved spending time with his family above all else. He will be laid to rest at the Culpeper Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Culpeper, VA. In keeping with his wishes, the service will be immediate family only.
