Today, we gather with full hearts to honor the life of a remarkable man—Dennis Norman—born on November 29, 1949. To us, he was more than just a name, more than a title. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, a brother, a friend, and truly, a pillar to everyone who had the blessing of knowing him.
Dennis lived his life with honor and purpose. As a proud Army veteran, he served his country with bravery and strength. That same discipline, courage, and dedication carried through every chapter of his life. Many knew him as a production engineer for CNN News, where his intelligence, precision, and work ethic made a lasting impact. They called him “Stormin’ Norman”—not because he was harsh, but because he was a force. A force of knowledge, determination, and pride in doing things right. When Dennis set his mind to something, he made sure it was done with excellence.
But as strong and committed as he was in his career and service, his greatest devotion was always to his family.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Alice and Cornell Norman, as well as his brothers, Cornell Keenen, Robert Charles “Bobby” Norman, and Joseph Alexander Norman. He is survived by his devoted sister, Dorothy Ann Poindexter, and his caring mother-in-law, Barbara Cobb. His legacy continues through his beloved nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends who will forever hold his memory close, each carrying a piece of his spirit in their hearts.
For over 40 years, he shared a beautiful love and life with his devoted wife, Angela Norman. Together, they built a family grounded in love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He leaves behind four incredible children—Tabitha Norman, Nicklas Robinson, Nicole Nixon, and Krystal Norman along with his beloved son-in-law, Michael Nixon, whom he cherished as his own.
Dennis was more than just a father, he was a supporter, a cheerleader, and a safe place. Whether it meant standing at track meets, opening his home so his son’s band could play into the night, planning unforgettable summer trips, or simply being present. Dennis gave his family his all. You never had to question his love or his loyalty. You could feel it in everything he did.
His pride and joy extended beyond his children to his grandchildren: Javors Norman, Madison Stevens, Kayli Stevens, and Ava Nixon, and his beautiful great-granddaughter Ariel Norman. His eyes lit up at the mention of them. They brought him endless joy, and he poured into them the same love, wisdom, and gentle guidance he gave to all.
Dennis had a way of touching lives beyond the walls of his home. The neighborhood kids adored him, the community respected him, and his work family held deep admiration for him. He was the life of every gathering—especially when karaoke and dancing began. His laughter filled rooms, his energy lifted spirits, and his presence made everything brighter.
A man of great intellect and curiosity, Dennis always had an answer ready—or he would go find it. He believed in learning, in understanding, and in sharing what he knew. He traveled, he explored, he experienced life deeply, and he brought those stories and lessons back to us.
Dennis lived fully, loved deeply, and gave generously. His legacy is not just in the years he lived but in the lives he shaped, the joy he spread, and the love he left behind.
Though he may no longer stand beside us, his voice, his laughter, his wisdom, and his love will continue to guide us. Today, we do not just say goodbye—we say thank you. Thank you for being our strength. Thank you for your love. Thank you for being our Stormin’ Norman.
We love you, Dennis. Your legacy lives on in every heart here today.
