Dennis Franklin Shock passed away August 30, 2020. He was born November 13, 1947 to Murle F. & Charlotte R. Shock in Ogden, Utah.

Dennis graduated from Ben Lomond High School, lettering in both wrestling and football, carrying a 4.0 average. Following graduation, he enlisted into the United States Air Force serving as a Geodetic Survey Specialist.

After completing his tour of duty, he returned to Ogden enrolling at Weber State University. He graduated as 1 of 61 total students who received a 4.0 grade average in a class of 2,006 peers. He received his degree in computer programming.

Dennis went on to retire from Utah Power and Light, afterwards working as an independent contractor, programming computers for numerous organizations.

During his time in the Air Force, Dennis found a passion for powerlifting which continued throughout his life. He has received and currently holds many state, national, and world powerlifting records. He also served as an official for many competitions. His friends say – not only he was a champion powerlifter, but a great friend.

On Friday and Saturday nights you could always find him out dancing.

Dennis took great love and pride in his only daughter Charlene, grandchildren: Stephn, Tyler, and Breann, and great-granddaughter Taylynn.

In addition to his family, Dennis found great joy in his dog, Dax. Dax was more than just a pet; he was a sidekick and Dennis' best friend. Dax had passed away following Dennis, staying by his side for eternity.

Dennis has been a member of the LDS Eastwood Ward. For the past 9 years, he has served as the official ward greeter, where he took great pride in his service, making sure every member – especially the children received a program.

I met Dennis at the Newman Center in 1975. He dated two of my younger sisters. He helped decorate our car at my wedding in 1993. He was a pallbearer at my mom´s funeral in 2011. I last saw him at the cemetery when his mom was buried. We missed seeing him at my dad´s funeral this past February. Dennis died on my mom´s birthday. Somehow we missed his obituary. We are very sad. Because he was a good friend to my family, I will have a mass prayed for him at St Joseph´s Catholic Church.
