Dennis Claude Spansel, Sr.

Dennis C. Spansel, Sr. passed peacefully at his home in Terrytown, LA on January 27, 2026. Born June 16, 1943, in New Orleans, LA, Dennis was a mechanic by trade and dedicated over 40 years to Tourist Trophy. He had a lifelong passion for restoring classic cars and was equally at home in his woodworking shop, where he crafted beautiful pieces that will be forever treasured. Dennis had an uncanny ability to fix and build anything he put his mind to, a talent admired and appreciated by all who knew him.

Dennis was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys and LSU football, and his enthusiasm for his teams was matched only by his deep love for family and friends. He was also an avid freshwater aquarium enthusiast, spending countless hours carefully preparing and arranging his tanks.

He was a devoted husband to Gwen, who preceded him in death, Dennis was also a loving father to Dennis Spansel Jr. and Donald Spansel (Gina), and a proud grandfather to Dylan, who was the light of his life. He is also survived by his sister Merle Mills. Dennis was preceded in death by his wife Gwen, parents Charles G. and Georgine H. Spansel, and brother Merril.

Dennis’s legacy endures in the cherished memories he shared with loved ones.

Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation at Christ the King Catholic Church, Terrytown, LA on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10 AM until Funeral Mass time at 11 AM. Interment Westlawn Cemetery South, Gretna, LA.
