A caregiver her entire life, Patricia Ann Smith Thibodeaux, 80, of New Orleans, LA passed away peacefully at her home on February, 1, 2026. She was born in New Orleans on January 24, 1946 to Roland and Rose Mary Smith. Growing up, she learned to sew and found a passion in making clothes for others. At 19, she started working for Dr. Chetta at Oakview Medical Center, where she worked for over 50 years. Her sole purpose in life was caring for others and always putting the needs of others before her own. Patricia met the love of her life, Charley in 1983 at Bronco’s. The night they met, he handcuffed her heart and they started their new lives together. The two were married on June 30, 1990 in Westwego at Justice of the Peace. She will always be remembered for being a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Rose Mary Smith, and siblings, Gwen Scheffler and Nolan Smith. She is survived by her husband, Charley Thibodeaux, daughter, Denise Burmaster (late Kenny), her son, Wade Babin, brother, Kenny Smith, grandchildren, Michael Babin (Randi) and Kayla Fullen (Colby), great grandchildren, Mercedes, Bailey, Paisley, Avery and Beckham. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expwy., Harvey, LA on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 1pm. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 11am until 1pm. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Family and friends can view and sign the online guest book at www.mothefunerals.com.
