Dennis Susnik Obituary
Waukesha, WI- Dennis Robert Susnik at 79 years of age passed peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, July 27th at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc, WI due to complications from congestive heart failure.
Dennis was born in Township of Marshall in Rusk County, WI on March 6th, 1946, son to William "Bill" & Marion (Nelson) Susnik. He attended Flambeau High School in Tony, WI and graduated with the class of 1965. He enjoyed attending many class reunions over the years reuniting with friends "up North."
Dennis left the farm & driving the milk truck for the big city of Waukesha to work at Alloy Products as a machinist. That's where he met his bride to be Gert (Carol Stark). And even though it was hunting season, he shaved his beard to get her to go on a date with him. Well, it paid off as they married on September 4th, 1971, and built a life in Waukesha together over 54 years.
Dennis proudly and tirelessly provided for his family working as an over-the-road truck driver. He also was Co-owner of Pretzels & Suds, a Waukesha bar in 1978. With a strong work ethic, he logged millions of miles with B&T and most recently J.A.B. Express before retirement. The bond with his coworkers was special and brought him great friendship and purpose. He hauled everything from mail to all types of foods and could tell you about every road without GPS or a map. He was the ultimate King of the Road!
Dennis loved watching and being part of the girls (Gert's) softball team at Saratoga softball complex. He enjoyed league and couples bowling at Waukesha bowling establishments. He also enjoyed watching his sons and grandkids in all sporting events he was able to make it to. He was also an avid follower of The Milwaukee Brewers.
Dennis had a heart of gold with a great love for family, friends and conversation. From the moment anyone met Dennis, you could feel his genuineness and lighthearted spirit. We will all miss him dearly because of that.
Dennis tried to take in the most meaningful connections when he was off the road and whether it was showing up for coffee, golfing, enjoying family BBQ's, or chasing around with the coupons he collected, he always did it with a happy spirit. He proudly represented our family at all parties and life events.
Dennis was the perfect example of "love they neighbor" and found great friendship in his special neighbor friends who kept Dennis busy in retirement. He was always looking to help in a project, partake in garage beverages or take a trip to the woods. It brought him great happiness even if his job was just to pull the lever or hold a piece of wood in place. Special thanks to Cliff Jr, Peggy, Dale & Trudy.
Dennis is survived by his wife Carol "Gert", two sons Gregg, David (Libbie), four grandsons, Devin & Ty, Aiden & Breckin, brother Bill (Jan) & numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dennis is proceeded in death by his parents, granddaughter Layla, and many close friends and relatives.
A celebration of life will be held August 10th, from 1-4pm at the Muskego Moose Lodge, S86W21693 Janesville Road, Muskego, WI where we will gather to honor Dennis with stories, laughter and visiting while his favorite baseball team The Milwaukee Brewers play a Sunday afternoon game.
