John A. Susnik, formerly of Lakewood, passed away peacefully on Thursday Oct. 30, 2025, in Marywood Assisted Living. John was born Nov. 1, 1939, in Duluth to Anthony J. and Leona Susnik. He graduated in 1957 from Duluth Cathedral High School. John worked for Northwestern Bell and later retired from the Duluth Post office as a Letter Carrier and was a member of the National Letter Carrier’s Association. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Marywood and the hospice nurse team for their wonderful care.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Leona and his longtime companion, Janet Elizabeth Calhoun.

John is survived by his children, Tony (Rene) Susnik, Debbie Susnik, and Patrick (JoNell) Susnik, many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Pat (late Ted) Gay the mother of John’s children, and their daughter Teryl Johnson, and his dear sister Nancy McDonald.

Visitation will be held on Saturday Nov. 8, 2025, from 10AM until the 11AM Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. Elizabeth's Church, 610 99th Ave. W., Duluth, MN 55808. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home. 600 E. 2nd St. Duluth, MN 55805. 218-727-3555.
