In Loving Memory
Dennis G. Tanner
May 26, 1942 - October 1, 2023
Denny was a proud husband to his late wife Carole. They spent 60 joyous together and are now reunited in heaven. Denny and Carole raised their four sons, Steve, Paul, Scott (Amy), and Pat together in Columbus, Ohio. They always taught their boys to make the most of their time together, taking them on numerous trips to Lake Erie and Southern Ohio where Denny taught them to fish and hunt. Then they would have a big fish fry on New Years Day with family and friends whom they considered family. Denny was also a proud grandfather to his five granddaughters, Miranda, Madison (Rudy), Kayle, Kinsey, and Gwyn. He loved making campfires and roasting marshmallows with them. He was a proud son to his late parents, Alberta and J. Gordon Tanner; his parents raised him to be a kind and strong man. Denny was a great brother to Ron, (Doris) Larry, John, Nancy, Debbie, Carol Jean (Dave), Greg, Jill, Jeff, Barb, Kim, Doug, Karyn, Linda, Laurie (Daniel), and Tom (Becky). He and his siblings loved being outside and helping around the house. Denny got to meet his great-granddaughter Sophia a few months ago and he was so happy and will be proudly watching over her from heaven.
After Denny retired from Columbus Southern Electric (AEP), he moved from Columbus to Centerburg to live a slower life outside of the city with more land in the country. He loved working on his many hobbies, like gardening, fishing, hunting, crafting knives and keychains, and often helping neighbors. He was very handy and could fix practically anything and could not enjoy his large mug of coffee unless he was sure there was nothing left to accomplish.
Denny has been living in an Alzheimer's facility for the past three years where he passed away. His family would like to thank the Grove Oakleaf Village of Columbus for taking such great care of him and treating him as their own. Denny was a very stubborn man but also very caring as many of the staff members spoke of him helping and looking out for them. Although Denny was not quite himself with his dementia, he always helped the staff clean up after meals and activities. He still could not relax until all the work was done.
Your work is done now, and you can finally relax.
Thank you for everything.

Denny was a long-time member of the St Clair Athletic club and loved to play Bestia after the monthly meeting. We still remember him fondly.

As a member of the St Clair A.C. for many years, Denny was always there to lend a hand whenever we needed him and loved to play cards with us. We miss Denny and think of him often.

I was in the St. Clair Athletic Club for many years. He was always fun and such a caring person. He will certainly be missed.
