Dennis J. Unten
June 5, 1944 – July 20, 2025
Dennis J. Unten, beloved father, grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025 at the age of 81. Born on June 5, 1944 in St. Paul, MN to Clarence "Bud" and Lorraine (Stadohar) Unten. Dennis lived a life marked by dedication-to his country, his family, and his craft.
In 1968, Dennis was drafted into the Vietnam War, where he served honorably as an SP5 in U.S. Army. His military service was a defining chapter in his life, and he wore his Army hat with pride wherever he went-a quiet but constant reminder of his deep patriotism.
After returning home, Dennis built a successful career as an airline mechanic for over 30 years. His expertise and work ethic left a lasting impression on his colleagues and the industry alike. But his skills didn't stop at aircraft-Dennis was a true handyman who built two of his own homes and generously lent his time and talent to help countless friends and family with construction and repairs.
Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce; his parents; his brother, Ronald; his sister, Mary O'Hair; and his nephew, Roy Unten. He is survived by his children, Michael, Tracy (Scott) Wilson, and David (Elizabeth); and by his four cherished grandchildren-Evan and Sophia Wilson, and Owen and Isabelle Unten-who brought him immense joy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 31, at 10:00 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 4030 Pilot Knob Road, Eagan, MN. A visitation will take place from 9:00 -10:00 am. A luncheon will be provided following the mass.
Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery will be held at a later date. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his quiet strength, tireless generosity, and unwavering pride in his family and country.
