Dennis Widmyer, age 83, formerly of Toppenish, Washington, left to meet the Lord on Sunday, December 17, 2023.
Denny was a hardworking, dedicated farmer for over 70 years. First working with his father as a young boy, and later working for many lower valley farmers. Finally, he went on his own in a bid to succeed. He raised crossbred beef cattle, asparagus, alfalfa, wheat, field and sweet corn and mint.
Denny had a good heart and loved to tell stories and help anyone who came into his life.
He was two years old when the family moved from Minnesota. The family grew to 10 children. During these early years he learned to fish and hunt to help his family, which he enjoyed. In his mid-life he made many trips to Alaska to continue on a grander scale in a state he loved.
Denny is preceded in death by his parents, William and Vera, four sisters, Virginia Hicks, Grace Zecchino, Ida Mae Hendrickson, and Janice Merrick, and one brother, Peter Widmyer. He is survived by his wife, Kay, of Yakima, two brothers, Buzz Widmyer, and Don Widmyer (Vickie) of Yakima, two sisters, Donna (Bob) Park of Kenai, Alaska, and Candy Widmyer of Toppenish, three daughters, Rayetta Ermey, Debbie (Mike) Andring, and Cheryl (Troy) Matthews, and stepson, Stacey (Cari) Kruger, all of Yakima. He has 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and he loved them all dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held when winter is over.
Brookside Funeral Home is caring for the family. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.brooksidefuneral.com.
