Dennis O. Winand, 80 of Hanover passed away peacefully at Hanover Hospital on Friday, March 28, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Diane M. (Storm) Winand.
Born October 1, 1944 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Ordean and Catherine (Roustan) Winand.
Mr. Winand was a devoted family man who cherished his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, at whose sporting events he was always their biggest fan. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR. After retiring from his long, dedicated 35 year career at ESAB Welding and Cutting, Dennis led an active social life. He especially enjoyed early morning social gatherings with his local buddies at the McDonald's in Hanover. Additionally, he was an active member of the McSherrystown Home Association and the Hanover Moose Lodge. His favorite hobby was detailing automobiles. He even volunteered his time and talent for this passion by detailing cars for Buddy Bream Motors (now called Selective Auto) in Hanover.
In addition to his wife, Dennis is survived by two children: Denise McDonald and her husband Frank of Lincolnton, NC and Troy L. Diehl and his wife Lynn of Hanover; three grandchildren: Justin L. Diehl of Hanover, Christina A. Gordon and her husband Javon of New Oxford and Terra M. Diehl and her husband Terrance Hayes of Wheat Ridge, CO; six great-grandchildren: Jace, Jhett, Jaxson, Zamyah, Saige and Sierra, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Ott.
A celebration of life service will be planned by Dennis' family at a later date.
For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Open Arms Recovery Center; 300 Frederick St. – Suite 3; Hanover, PA 17331.
