Dennis Harold Winter was born on October 29, 1945 to Harold and Lorraine (Hauglid) Winter in Pipestone, Minnesota. He was raised on the family farm near Cazenovia, Minnesota where he attended country school. He later attended Central High School in Pipestone, graduating in 1963. He actively served in the National Guard from 1963-1966. On November 19, 1964, he began working at Pepsi Cola Bottling Company in Pipestone. He was united in marriage to Linda Larson at First Lutheran Church in Pipestone on December 17, 1965. On Thursday, January 2nd 2025, he went to work like he always did for the past 60 years, when he came home he passed away unexpectedly at the age of 79.
Denny was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone where he ushered and ran sound. He was also a member of the Michael Boock American Legion Post #6 in Pipestone. He enjoyed golfing, yardwork and landscaping. His favorite saying was “Smok-em if ya got em” by Leroy Johnson. He especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Linda Winter of Pipestone; two daughters, Tammy (Dale) Fleck of Hutchinson, Minnesota and Stacy Claussen (Rick Timm) of White, South Dakota; four grandchildren, Jeremy Fleck, Brady Claussen (Kyla Schuler), Jayden (Amber) Fleck, Bianca Claussen (Kipper Johnson), Carter Timm, Payton Timm (Taylor Moritz); three great-grandchildren, Brody, Scarlett, Madden and Baby to be Fleck; four siblings, Gary (Joanne) Winter, Gayle Popma, Tom Winter (Carla Bruning) and Shelly (Jon) Kozlowski, all of Pipestone; sister-in-law, Arleen Heidebrink; Brothers-in-law, Claire (Margaret) Larson, George Larson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lorraine Winter; brother, Bill Winter; brother-in-law, Jerry Popma; and nephew, Jamie Winter.
