Dennis Wayne Wunderlich

Dennis Wayne Wunderlich, Cross Plains, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at the age of 69, surrounded by his children.
Dennis was born in Fredericksburg, Texas, April 17, 1950. He graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1969 where he played full back in the football program and showed steers in FFA. His career was working as Bulk Plant Manager. Dennis was employed at Halliburton in Abilene and Odessa. He later worked at Basic Energy in Cisco, Texas where he later retired due to his illness. Dennis enjoyed fishing, hunting, horse races, and gardening. Dennis was stubborn which was expected with the German blood in him. Dennis loved to make bets on football games with his buddies. Dennis was a dedicated hard worker. If Dennis had his mind to do something, he did it. Dennis's world revolved around his kids and grandchildren. He absolutely loved being a Pa. His granddaughters were the light of his life.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Wunderlich of Cross Plains, Texas. Dennis is also survived by his former wife Suellen Wunderlich of Abilene, Texas and their son, Casey Wunderlich and wife Stephanie of Lubbock, Texas and daughter Lacey LaCaze of Abilene, Texas, four granddaughters, two brothers Randall Wunderlich and wife Liz of Fredericksburg, Texas and Kevin Wunderlich of Riesel, Texas and one nephew William Wunderlich and wife Becca of Austin, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benno Wunderlich and Josie Danz Wunderlich of Fredericksburg.
Visitation will take place on Friday January 17, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Chambers Funeral Home in Cisco, Texas.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday January 18, 2020 at 10:00 am at Chambers Funeral Home in Cisco, Texas with Les Mims officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Boyd Burleson, AW 'Buffy' Norman, Tim Raines, Lonnie Switzer, Michael Tollett, Eldon 'Woody' Woodard, Kevin Wunderlich and William Wunderlich will serve as pallbearers. Leslie Terry will serve as honorable pallbearer.
Dennis's family is so very grateful to Dr. Boehrer of Dallas and Dr. Linn of Abilene and their staff for the years of dedicated care. Also, special thanks to the doctors and nurses for helping the family complete their lives with dignity and comfort at ICU in Medical City Heart Hospital of Dallas. Lastly, thank you Kindred Home Health staff for the love and care for Dennis over the years.
