Denny Kenneth Shelton, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the Hospice House of Asheboro with his loving wife by his side. Born in Pulaski, Tennessee, Denny carried the values of hard work, loyalty, and kindness throughout his life.
He was a devoted husband to his wife, Gaynelle Shelton, with whom he shared nearly 40 years of marriage. Together, they built a life grounded in faith, commitment, and unwavering support for each other.
Denny is survived by his loving wife Gaynelle Shelton of Burlington, NC, his son, Kenneth Baron Shelton of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and his wife, Terry; his daughter, Crystal Adams of Jefferson South Carolina, and her husband, Michael; his daughter, Melinda Stevens of Sausalito, California, and her husband, Barry; and his cousin Larry Shelton of Tennessee, with whom he shared the exact birthday.
He is also survived by his grandchildren Chase Shelton and Macy Hills of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Victoria Stokes and Christina Stokes, of Jefferson, South Carolina; Tyler Stevens and Kyndal Stevens of Sausalito, California; and Steven Sutphin and Chasie Sutphin of
Greensboro, North Carolina.
He is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Shelton; his Mother, Effie Shelton; and his Brother, Terrance Shelton, all of Pulaski, TN; his Stepson, Billy Sutphin of
Greensboro, NC.
A lifelong truck driver, Denny found purpose and pride on the open road. He enjoyed playing pool, music, fishing, and traveling, and he approached each with the same steady dedication that defined him.
Denny's presence, humor, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the gift of knowing him. His legacy lives on in the love he and Gaynelle shared and in the countless memories held close by those who loved him.
Denny was blessed and prayed over by the pastor today, right before his passing. In honor of his wishes, he will be cremated, and a memorial announcement listed here. There will be no formal service, as he requested.
