Deonicio "Dennis" Galvan Peña Jr.
June 16, 1945 – October 14, 2025
A true patriot, devoted husband, and beloved father, Deonicio Galvan Peña Jr. passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born on June 16, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, to Celia Galvan and Deonicio B. Peña, Dennis spent his early years in Texas before his family moved to Oklahoma City in 1952.
He attended school in Oklahoma City and graduated in 1965. Soon after, Dennis answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States National Guard. He later joined the Oklahoma National Guard's proud 45th Infantry Division, eventually serving with the HHC (Headquarters and Headquarters Company), which became the State Headquarters. Over the course of his remarkable military career, Dennis rose to the distinguished rank of Sergeant Major (E-9) before retiring in 2005 a testament to his leadership, integrity, and lifelong dedication to his fellow soldiers and to the nation he loved.
In addition to his military service, Dennis served his community as a member of the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office for ten years. His service extended beyond the call of duty during one of the state's darkest times, the Oklahoma City Bombing where he served honorably in both military and law enforcement capacities.
On July 12, 1991, Dennis married the love of his life, Jimmie Nell Farr, with whom he shared three decades of devotion, laughter, and partnership until her passing on April 5, 2021. After retirement, Dennis moved to Blair, Oklahoma, where he found comfort among his wife's family and the warmth of a small-town community. There, he made many friends and enjoyed a quieter life surrounded by those who appreciated his humor, kindness, and generous spirit.
Dennis was a proud member of the American Legion, a lover of classic cars, and a talented woodworker. Those who knew him best will remember his caring heart, his readiness to help anyone in need, and his unforgettable sense of humor - always joking, always lifting spirits. He was truly one of a kind.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jimmie Nell Farr Peña, his parents Celia Galvan and Deonicio B. Peña, Sr., his parents in law, Ernest and Don Farr, his brother Rudy G. Peña, and nephews Troy Farr and Jesse Farr.
Dennis leaves behind his daughters Karrie Peña and Celia Peña, son, Deonicio Galvan Pena III, stepson Jerry Don Jackson; Rogelio Carrisal and wife Corina; Benito Carrisal and wife Tina; granddaughter Chelsea Agureo; grandson Reed Jackson and mother Rhonda Jackson; great-grandchildren Levi, Kobe, and Payton; best friend, Anna Marie Briones and her children and many extended family members and dear friends who will carry his memory proudly.
Deonicio Galvan Peña Jr. lived a life of service, laughter, and love. His legacy as a patriot, protector, and friend will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing him.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2025 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, ALtus, Oklahoma.
