Sonja Lynn was born on April 3rd, 1948 in Carthage, Missouri to Oliver and Nora (Chapman) Liles. She grew up in Carthage and graduated high school from there. Sonja moved to Guymon, Oklahoma where she worked for a beef processor. She met Harold Hefley and the two married on December 31, 1987 in Hastings, Nebraska. The couple moved to Altus where Sonja worked for Southwest Oklahoma Community Action Group. She was a member of the Vernon Baptist Church. In her spare time, Sonja liked to paint, sew, knit, and bake.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Doris Frazier and husband Fred, Joann Willis and husband Bill, Fern Still and husband Richard, and Regina Liles.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Hefley; a son, Eric Hefley and wife, Tracy; a step-son, Nick Hefley and wife, Lisa; a granddaughter, Brittany LeValley; a great-grandson, Tyler Gaspard; and three step-grandchildren, Logan, Hailey, and Kaitlyn.
A celebration of life will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Services and cremation are under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory of Altus, Oklahoma.
