DeQuan Clinkscale Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ronald Taylor II Funeral Home - Washington D.C. on Jun. 16, 2025.
Dequan M. Clinkscale, also known as "Mr. Showoff," was born on August 15, 1993, in Washington, D.C., to Tamiko Clinkscale and Earl Brown. He attended Prince George's County Schools, where he made lifelong friends and unforgettable memories. He was called home on June 7, 2025.
Dequan grew up in Largo, Maryland, surrounded by a large and loving family who helped shape the man he became. He was raised by his devoted mothers, Tamiko Clinkscale and Tamela Clinkscale, both of whom poured love, faith, and strength into him from day one. And trust-they didn't play when it came to discipline, style, or Sunday dinner.
Dequan took pride in his work as an Eviction Mover for Prince George's County, Maryland. Recently, he obtained his HVAC/R Apprentice license from the Maryland Department of Labor's Division of Occupational and Professional License Office. He was scheduled to start his HVAC career on Monday, June 9, 2025. We're convinced he's probably doing HVAC for the angels now, and making sure heaven stays cool.
His hobby was mechanical work, such as fixing motorcycles and cars. He also had a passion for singing and freestyle rapping. He didn't just freestyle-he took you on a whole journey with three detours, a plot twist, and a guest appearance from somebody's cousin. You'd look up and be like, "Bruh, is the beat still even playing?"
He also loved landscaping and building sheds and decks for loved ones. He inherited a love of fashion from his mothers and would often design and make his own clothes. Whether it was turning a hoodie into a fashion statement or rocking mismatched patterns like it was Milan Fashion Week-he made it work. He was skilled, dependable, and took every project seriously. However, it was his work off the clock that truly defined him. Dequan was known for his big smile, big heart, and ability to make anyone feel like family. He was the type of man who would give you the shirt off his back-and then joke that he designed it himself and needed it returned later.
Dequan was the life of the party-whether he was telling a story or dancing like nobody was watching (even though everybody was). He lived loud, laughed freely, and loved deeply. You could always count on him to turn a dull moment into a memory.
His greatest joy in life was being a father. Dequan was a devoted dad to his stepson, Anthony Wood (17); daughter, Erin Clinkscale (14); and son, Malik Clinkscale (4), and he cherished every moment with them. He shared his life with his fiancée, Stephanie Gaskins, who stood by his side through thick and thin, and hell to heaven, raising their children with care, laughter, and deep love. She was his peace, his partner, and his "ride or die."
Dequan had a tight bond with his father, Earl Brown, and his siblings: Earl Clinkscale, James Clinkscale, Sadiyah Floyd, Elijah Brown, Emonte Brown, Emarjae Brown, and Kelique Alston, who always had his back.
He is now reunited in peace with his sister, Saniyah Floyd, who preceded him in death. We imagine they're somewhere cracking jokes and freestyling back and forth, just like old times.
He leaves behind his grandmother, Geraldine Bryant, and a village of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who will carry his name, his memory, and his light forward. That's a whole block party of love and support-and knowing Dequan, he wouldn't want it any other way.
Dequan's charm, humor, smile, and giant heart left a lasting memory on everyone who knew him. He believed in showing up, in taking care of his people, and in making the best out of every single moment-even if it meant being "fashionably late" nine times out of ten.
Dequan's favorite quote: "You ain't on what I'm on, huh man!"
