Derek Brinson Obituary
Derek Ernest Brinson, affectionally known as Dee, was born in Nashville, Tennesse on March 30, 1961. He departed this life on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in Takoma Park, Maryland. He was the third child and eldest son of Harvey and Shirley Brinson's four children.
Dee graduated from Springbrook High School in June 1979, and attended Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland. Thereafter, he worked as a clerk in the library and mailroom at the firm of Booz Allen Hamilton for over 30 years. His humor and quick wit always left a smile on customers' faces. He was committed to his job, rarely took time off from work, enjoyed people and would strike up a conversation with anyone.
Dee loved to work out at the gym, eat out, collect comic books, and invest in stocks. He was wise beyond his years and readily gave friends and family advice on saving money and tips on making investments. Dee was cordial, courageous, giving, kind, and easy going. It was hard to ruffle his feathers, but if you did, you had a problem. If he befriended you, you had a friend for life!
He enjoyed all types of music genres, but especially jazz. He also enjoyed listening to Sirius Radio, particularly classic radio shows. He loved M&M's with peanuts, apple pie, and Jimmy Dean Sausage Biscuits. Dee monitored his accounting closely and was extremely adept in tracking his spending to the very last penny.
Dee is survived by his parents, Harvey and Shirley Brinson; sisters, Kim Brinson and Karen Butler (Walter); his brother, Brian Brinson; nieces, Ashley Ademiluyi (Adedamola), Maya Calhoun, Sydney and Solana Brinson, nephews, Marc Banks (Adriana), Stephen Butler, and Andrew Brinson; great nieces, Zuri Banks, Nyla, Morayo and Emiola Ademiluyi; great nephew, D.J. Ademiluyi; aunts, Wilma Middleton and Gerri Nicholson; uncle, Thomas Lyle, and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
