Derek Hutchinson Tait

Derek Hutchinson Tait, 81, of Nashua, husband of the late Maria "Pili" Tait, died Thursday morning, November 11, 2021 at Fairview Nursing Home in Hudson after a fierce and valiant fight against failing health due to a stroke.

He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on March 18, 1940, son of the late David Anderson Tait and the late Agnes Hutchinson Tait.

Mr. Tait was educated at the University of Edinburgh, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering. For many years he worked for Ingersoll Rand. He met the love of his life "Pili" and married in the City of Westminster on March 26, 1976. Together they immigrated to the United States in April of 1976 and settled in Nashua at Whitegate Condominium for the remainder of their lives. He had a passion for fast cars, fast wheelchairs, soccer, long walks, maintaining the pool at Whitegate, and baking scones and meatloaf for his close friends.

Members of his family include sister, Fiona Knight; a niece Fiona Barney and a nephew David Knight, all residing in London, England. He had numerous friends at Whitegate who were like family to him. He was a significant contributor to the well-being of the community for over 40 years and will be missed by all.
