Lori P. Tait was born December 16, 1952 in Kanab Utah to Janice Jones and DeForest Pratt. She died July 10, 2025 in St. George Utah, surrounded by her children and her life long best friend. When she was 2 years old her family moved to southern California where she spent her childhood and teen years. She loved taking care of people at a young age. When she was in the 4th grade she had to be home schooled because she was sick with a kidney issue. In high school she took french and was involved in lots of things. She was outgoing and had a lot of friends. She loved catching the bus and hanging out at Hermosa beach. She graduated from North Torrance High School in 1971. She then went on to work for host international at LAX airport. During that time, she would travel back and forth from California to Kanab. In 1973 she moved back to Kanab to take care of her grandma Maurine. She was working at what she called the town market, when she met and started dating Don (Heav) Tait. They were married April 18, 1975 in Las Vegas Nevada. She lost her dear grandmother in 1976, and shortly after found out that they would be welcoming their first child. Derran "Hoss" was born in 1977, followed by Brandon in 1980. In 1984 Lori learned she was pregnant with twins just 6 weeks before her due date, and then Janna and Jennifer arrived just 3 weeks later. She then went back to school and graduated with her nursing degree from Mohave Community College in 1990. She spent many years taking care of countless people in the community, and loved every second of it. She worked for Kane County Hospital, Southern Utah Home Care and Hospice, the Fredonia School, and the Kaibab Paiute Tribe. Her kids and grandkids were her pride and joy and she would let everyone know. She loved sleeping, root beer, chocolate and cheetos, watching TV, crocheting, being with her family and her weekly phone calls with her sister. If you knew our mom you knew she loved to talk and if you didn't know her you did after she was done. She lived a good life full of compassion, loyalty and love. She was related to everyone and everyone was her friend. She leaves behind son Brandon Tait (Summer), daughters Janna Tait (Billy Drabeck) and Jennifer Harmon, daughter in law Randi Tait, her sister DeLene Robertson (Jim), Brother Randy Blanchard, her sister in law and brother in laws, 11 grandkids, 6 great grandkids, many nieces and nephews and life long friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Curtis Blanchard, husband Don, son Derran (Hoss), grandson Jayden, and many more people she loved.
Funeral services will be held at the Fredonia LDS chapel on Saturday July 19, 2025. There will be a public viewing at 12:00 p.m. Arizona time, followed by the funeral at 1:00 p.m. and burial at the Fredonia Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank everyone who was there with our mom at the scene, who have called, texted and sent food. Your kindness and love haven't gone unnoticed.
