Derick C. Thomson

Derick Charles Thomson, 43, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away on January 2, 2024 in Casper.

Derick was born in Casper to Keith and Kitty Thomson. He graduated from Natrona County High School in 1998. He followed in his dad’s footsteps in the beer business at an early age, working his way up from mowing the lawn to a sales team leader position. He continued his career until his unfortunate death, and He was proud to be the “Bud Man”. His kind heart made him well known and loved around town, and his quick wit could always be counted on for a belly laugh, often when you least expected it.

He loved football (even though his Vikings continually disappointed him), live music and spending time at the family property in Story, Wyoming. Here he found complete peace. In January of 2018 he completed the required courses and became a certified fitness trainer through the International Sports Science Association.

In 2003 he married Tamara Thomson and became an instant dad to Courtney (C-Dog as Derick called her). They quickly became inseparable. In 2006 Derick and Tamara welcomed the birth of their beautiful daughter Aubrey Jean. She was daddy’s girl. Along came Chase (Chasey Bear) in 2008. Chase and Derick had a special bond and shared a passion for dogs and video games. On March 25, 2021, he met the love of his life Stephanie Hicks. She was by his side till the end.  

Derick is survived by his parents, brother Curtis, and his children.  He is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at Bustard & Jacoby on January 10th at 2:00 pm with Bryan Elliott officiating.  A reception will be held following the ceremony at Paradise Valley Country Club.
