Derrick DeShaun Backstrom

Mr. Derrick DeShaun Backstrom, age 44, passed away April 24, 2024 in Louisville, KY. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Holy Ghost Church Ministries, 801 Addison St., Flint, MI 48505. Family hour will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday. Pastor Willie Kidd officiating. Cremation to follow ceremony. Derrick was born December 2, 1979 in Flint, MI, the son of Roslyn Allen and Carl T. Williams. He was a resident of Louisville, KY for 11 years. Derrick attended Flint Community Schools. He loved to cook, draw, barbeque,listen to music, play cards and dominoes. Most of all Derrick loved quality time with his son, siblings and his mother. Derrick leaves to cherish his memory his only child Armani Moore of Flint, MI, wife Julia "Tasha" Backstrom, 4 step-children Meosha, Loni, Destiny and Tank Massie,all of Flint,MI, 2 grandchildren Isiah and Malano of Flint, his mother Roslyn Allen and step-father Fred Allen, 5 siblings Carlos, Maria, Calvin, Sheena and Andrea, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, 2 nieces Amari and Constance, 5 nephews DeQuan, Antwan, Marquan, Corandis and Jamal all of Flint, Flint and aunt Barbara Cooper(Wade), special friends Anita and Big Keith Buck, god mother Annie and god brother Mike. Derrick was preceded in death by his father Carl T. Williams, grandparents Barbara Parks, Othell Peebles, Willie Carl and Thelma Lavern Williams, aunts Torina Benton, Sherry and Vickie Backstrom, Lillie Mosley, Martha Upchurch, Willie Carol, uncles Elish, Lorenzo, James and Eddie Robinson, Danny Williams, and Charles Harrison. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Norton Audobon Hospital, Louisville, KY. Davita Dialysis of Louisville, KY, Fred Allen, family members and friends that came around for support and donations, and Holy Ghost Ministries. Thank you all for your prayer and support.
