Derrick Wilson Obituary
Derrick Otis Wilson, aged 32, of Amarillo, passed away on June 18, 2024. The family invites those who wish to celebrate Derrick’s life to join them on July 05, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Great Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Born in Lubbock, Texas, on August 21, 1991, to Tammy Benton and Edward Otis Wilson, Derrick later made his home in Amarillo. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 2009, where his passion for basketball and track was well known. One of his cherished activities was fishing with his stepfather, Sam Benton; these moments created lasting bonds and precious memories. Known for his quiet demeanor, Derrick was a man of few words but always made time to connect with his family.
Derrick is preceded in death by his father, Edward Otis Wilson.
Derrick is survived by his mother, Tammy Benton, and stepfather, Sam Benton; daughter, Emagine March of Fort Worth, Texas; sister, Amber Benton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brother, Sheldon Benton of Amarillo; grandmother, Neverly Childs of Phoenix, Arizona; and grandmother, Daisy Lee Benton of Fort Worth, Texas.
Derrick will be fondly remembered by all who knew him as a loving son, devoted father, and cherished family member. His presence will be deeply missed but forever treasured in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
