Mr. Deshawn Squirewell Obituary
On June 6, 2000, the world was blessed with the birth of Deshawn Raekwon Squirewell, a son, brother, nephew, and friend who brought joy, laughter, and warmth to everyone fortunate enough to know him. Born to Effie Alston and Darrell Squirewell, Deshawn was the embodiment of love, humor, and a caring heart. His unique personality and infectious laugh were just a few of the many qualities that made him unforgettable.
Deshawn leaves behind his devoted mother, Effie Alston, and two loving sisters, Laquesha Squirewell and Faytirra Squirewell, all of Winnsboro, SC. He was a proud and loving uncle to his nephew, LeGend Tucker of Columbia, SC, who will always carry his memory close to his heart. Deshawn was also surrounded by a strong and loving extended family: his aunts, Shayla Alston, Bridgette Alston, of Winnsboro, SC and Tashinnia Williamson of Baltimore, MD: his uncles, Victor Alston, Christopher Alston, and Willie Alston of Winnsboro, SC, and Walter Squirewell and Jason Williamson of Washington, DC as well as his grandmother, Wanda Williamson of Washington, DC.
He attended Fairfield Central High School and his passion for football was evident from a young age, and he was a standout player throughout middle and high school, impressing everyone with his dedication and skills. He later graduated from the Military Academy, where he earned a forklift certification, showing his commitment to building a future himself. In addition to his athletic and academic achievements, Deshawn had a love for music, especially rap. His passion for expressing himself through his lyrics was something he took great pride in. Music was his outlet, and it was just one of the many ways he touched the lives of those around him. Above all, Deshawn was a loving, caring individual who had a special place in his heart for children. His heart was as big as his sense of humor. He had a gift for making anyone laugh, no matter the situation. He was the kind of person who could brighten the darkest days with his jokes and his infectious smile. He was different in the in the best possible way-a one –of-a kind of person who will be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, and the genuine love he showed to everyone he met.
Deshawn leaves behind a host of cousins, friends, and loved ones who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will continue to live on in the laughter he gave, the love he shared, and the joy he spread.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Gloria Pearson and Edgar Pearson, as well as his cousin, Shavonna Jones, and his uncle, George Pearson, and Curtis Alston who have all left a lasting impact on his life and are now together in eternal peace.
Rest in peace, Deshawn. You are deeply loved and will always be missed. Your memory will live on in all who knew you, and your light will never fade.
